Barid has an experience of about four decades in the areas of journalism, media relations, Public Relations, and Corporate Communications. His 33-year stint with journalism began with the Press Trust of India in New Delhi and concluded with the Times of India Group. He has had long tenures in responsible positions with the Press Trust of India, India Today, Pioneer, BiTV, ATN News, Business Standard, The Times of India Group and Financial Express. Since 1980, the year he joined the profession, he had been required to provide coverage on issues ranging from Wars, Current Affairs and Life Style to Sports, Retail, Aviation and Automobile. Simultaneously, his PR, Public Affairs and Corporate Brand & Communications practices continued as he was required to handle media relations on behalf of the American Embassy in New Delhi.
Barid was also a member of the visiting faculty at Amity School of Mass Communication in Noida and The National Institute of Advertising in Delhi.

He has also contributed articles on US presidential elections to the online magazine of Observer Research Foundation, a leading Indian think-tank.
